Microfinishing media

KXMA

Fine-grained abrasive made from sintered ceramic. Very high density. Especially suitable for fine grinding and polishing of workpieces in hardened steel. Highly wear resistant. Very good for finishing workpieces with depressions and intricate toothing.

Special dry grinding and polishing media

TZ Dry grinding granulate

The TZ dry grinding granulate media consist of defined shape granules in polyethane with SiC added as an abrasive. The granules are cylindrical in shape. The great advantage of this medium is that the granules retain their shape. They do not break and are self-sharpening. This medium is preferred for the edge rounding of cutting tools used with a cooling lubricant.

HSC Granulate

- Only for use in DF and SF machines

- For finishing HSS and carbide tools

- Polishing coated tools and removing droplets

- Smoothing and polishing carbide tools

- Edge rounding of carbide tools up to max. 15-20 µm

- Removing solder residues

- Produces very high quality surfaces, e.g. Rz 0.5 (previously 2.5)

QZ W Granulate

Abrasive granulate in white corundum, for use primarily for the edge rounding of carbide tools.

Grain sizes:

QZ 0.5 W (0.5 mm); for edge rounding up to max. 15 µm

QZ 1-2 W (1-2 mm); for edge rounding up to max 30 µm

QZ 1-3 W (1-3 mm); for edge runding over 30 µm

Abrasive media can be divided into two main groups:

Plastic bonded:

Here the abrasive material is bonded in polyester resin.

  • Properties:
    Low density, soft basis material.
  • Area of application:
Mainly for the grinding and polishing of non-ferrous metals.

Ceramic bonded:

Here the abrasive material is bonded in ceramic.

  • Properties:
    High density, hard basis material.
  • Area of application:
Mainly for the grinding of steel alloys.
